3DMark05 is ideally designed for the next generation of DirectX 9.0 graphics cards. The application offers full support for Microsoft DirectX9.0c and features the latest three 3D game tests, a couple of new CPU tests along with a suite of new feature tests. It has new and improvised image quality tools as well as online services, and consequently the user can submit the results and compare them to 3DMark05 results from anywhere across the world.
The program also features batch size tests; however it has lots of system pre-requisites such as x86 compatible processor with MMX support, 2000MHz ,512MB system memory, DirectX9 generation graphics card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 or higher, Visual C++ 2005 Redist, 400MB of hard disk space, Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP operating system, DirectX9.0c or higher, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or later installed on the system, for some 3DMark functionality and even Microsoft Excel 2000, 2003 or XP, for some 3DMark functionalities.
Although 3DMark05 may run on PCs that don’t meet the defined requirements, it may possibly affect the benchmark drastically; for example, insufficient video memory could result in texture swapping, causing fluctuations during the tests, thus reducing the reliability of the generated scores.
